RSV Vaccines and Methods of Production and Use Thereof
(U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, 2024-02-13)
Recombinant, live, attenuated viruses of the Pneumoviridae family are disclosed that include a baculovirus GP64 envelope glycoprotein or variant or fragment thereof and a respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) F protein variant or fragment thereof. Also disclosed are polynucleotides encoding the virus as well as pharmaceutical compositions and vaccines containing the virus. In addition, methods of producing and using each of the above compositions are also disclosed.

Methods and Tunable Apparatuses for Dynamic Dispersion Compensation of Electromagnetic Signals
(U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, 2024-02-20)
In ultra-wideband or impulse radio terahertz wireless communication, the electromagnetic signal may experience group delay dispersion (GDD). Without correction, this can degrade the achievable data transmission rate. An apparatus comprising a stratified structure having a front portion and a back portion is disclosed. The structure comprises a plurality of adjacent layers of differing refractive indices, wherein each layer has a refractive index different from an immediately adjacent layer. The structure further includes a backing layer at the back portion. The structure defines a GDD, which can be adjusted, and the structure is configured to introduce the GDD to an incident electromagnetic signal and thereby produce a dispersion-compensated electromagnetic signal when the incident signal is reflected by the structure. The GDD of the structure is configured to substantially cancel out the dispersive effects experienced by the electromagnetic signal in the signal path.

    Method for Dissolved Gas Separation
(U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, 2022-03-08)
Techniques in the disclosure use non-wetting or wetting surfaces to promote or hinder separation of gas from solution in a liquid. The systems and processes promote bubble nucleation and/or promote separation of a gas or gases from a liquid using non-wetting surfaces. Also, the systems and processes suppress bubble nucleation in order to create supersaturated solutions of gas or gases in a liquid by using wetting surfaces.

Systems and Methods for Production of Artificial Eumelanin
(U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, 2022-06-28)
“Black” photoactive materials that comprise synthetic eumelanin polymers are provided, as are methods of making and using the polymers. The synthetic eumelanin polymers are made from the plant oil vanillin, and exhibit defined structural and chemical characteristics (e.g. homogeneity, solubility, etc.) that make them suitable for use in devices that require photoactive materials, such as solar cells.
