Abstract
This project evaluated qualitatively the efficacy of the comic book as an educational medium. Using focus groups of children, the researcher evaluated the reactions of the audience to matters of narrative, graphic style, and type of characters. The researcher created a comic book focusing on human values as bedrock for good governance to serve as the medium for this study. Data was gathered through direct observation, transcriptions and written essays. Four emergent themes dominated the focus groups: (a) Learning about environment protection, (b) Relating personal experience to the comic book, (c) Educational content in comics, (d) Identity, differences and diversity. The comic book proved to be an effective medium for the children to gratify certain needs.
